Complications
Today we were going to upload all of our paper prototype material but it would not let us log on to the viddler website. We repeatedly changed our password and it would not accept the new one. We will try again tomorrow and get it done even if we have to make another account. We will try to catch up to everyone else and hopefully start getting things done that should have been done earlier but was postponed because of the snow days.

Change In Direction
This week our group encountered a problem with our game. We presented our paper prototype and got shot down. Our game on using chemicals to fix problems around a school, in the eyes of some, could be too violent or inappropriate for an educational game so we had to think up something else. After a few days of thinking of a new game that would incorporate chemistry and a social issue, we came up with a good alternative. We decided that we would try to make a game with the title "The Chemistry of Women." This will be a fun game for people to play to mainly get a laugh and learn some things as well. This game could probably be looked to as more a male centered game but it can be played by both sexes to get a laugh out. We shall see how it goes...

Paper Prototyping
Last week of school and this week we are finishing our paper prototypes. My group is done with ours and plan to start filming it soon. Our game is about the school janators and they have to pick the right chemicals to get various jobs done for the school. Our first three levels include senarios from clogged toilets to smashed pipes.

Brainstorming
This week we have been brainstorming again and answering the questions on our projects page. My group is still trying to figure out what our game is going to be about but we are getting closer. We have also started the filming process of us answering these questions.

Teaching
This week I have been showing the class on the smartboard how to do basic things in flash. I am explaining what everything is in your basic view of CS3 like your tools, timeline, frames, library, that kind of thing. So far I have showed them motion tween and how you can use that to make basic animations and I have shown them bitmapping. I have also been telling them how this can be useful in the future of their games. I plan to tell them how make buttons tomorrow.

So Far This Week
So far this week my group and I have been working on our project pages while trying to keep up with our blogging and documenting our time in our learning logs. During this process I have been showing the class different things that I have learned in flash such as making sound boards (adding sound buttons) and scrolling backgrounds ( a good think to know how to do if you are doing a 2-D adventure, Mario like game). We also began filming our brain storming. We are still trying to figure out what our game could be about. We know it has to be chemistry oriented but we haven't fully decided on what aspect of chemistry we are going to use in our game. Chemical reactions like explosions sounds like it would be pretty fun.

My Group's Bunny Game
We finally finished our bunny game! Throughout the process I helped Andrew and Aaron understand why we were typing what we were typing and showed them what it did. I also showed them what each number did and we changed most of them from the instructed numbers to more interesting ones like making the scoring different and items moving at different speeds. I also came up with a new idea to make our game different from all of the other bunny games in Globaloria for our further studies section of the mini game mission. I thought it would be funny to have a little cartoon redneck with a gun in our game shooting at the rabbit. We ended up getting Elmer Fudd in our game. Get it? He is constantly shooting and if his bullets (which are pretty fast) collide with our rabbit you lose a huge twenty points.

New Laptops!
So far this year we have been using laptops that aren't the best for this class. They do well enough to update the wikis and blogs but they would probably not run flash as well as we would need. Now we have new laptops. These new computers are highly capable of doing everything we need! Now this class should work pretty smoothly.

Game Ideas For This Year
This year I am not in Globaloria through a graphic arts class. This year I am in a chemistry II class so our team's game has to have something to do with Chemistry. As a team we worked to come up with ideas on what could be done on the subject. So far we are thinking about trying to make some kind of game about using your knowledge about chemical reactions to blow various materials up trying to accomplish some kind of objective. This is just one idea out of possibly a few.

Drift Runner
The last two days I have been doing the playing to learn section for the second time. For the most part the games were the same as the last time I did this but this time I actually found a game that I actually wanted to play for more than a minute. The other games can be fun but they are more educational. The game Drift Runner is pretty fun while also teaching you the physics involved in diving.

Another Start
This is my second year of being in Globaloria. So far this year I have done the Globaloria servey again, blogged some, and started doing some intern things like looking at other schools' blogs to see how they are doing so far. Im looking forward to another good year, this one being my last in high school. I havent worked in flash in a long time but have been looking forward to it since its the best part of this program.

Why Its Cool To Be a Senior
Senior year has finally come! Being a senior is pretty cool for a number of reasons, some being: We get to pass everyone in the lunch line, we got first choice in classes, and its just cool being the oldest class in the school. After 3 years of waiting we are finally on top. All of the underclassmen look up to us and we get to do a little bit more than they do. We even have days off just for our class. Only one year to go and we will get to move on to college to hopefully positively shape our futures.
